Garnett Keeler is committed to the use of approved external training organisations, and has a significant annual training budget.

In addition to training programmes with approved external training providers, and in-house training, the company is developing a Computer Based Training (CBT) tool enabling junior staff to carry out efficient training on key topics at their desks. This is believed to be unique in the PR industry.

Once a CBT module has been completed, staff undertake a computer-based test, with a pass mark of 80%. They then undergo a refresher on the questions they get wrong.

CBT pass marks are added to their personal records.

The CBT programme also provides senior practitioners with speedy ‘revision’ on topics, and a handy aide-memoire and checklist to ensure that the basics are never forgotten.

The CBT programme has been created entirely in-house.

With the exception of some working-lunch training sessions and early evening meetings, all CBT work takes place out of working hours.
