Garnett Keeler Public Relations is a full member of the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) and is committed to the training of account handlers, both in-house and using external approved training organisations.
The company is a generalist but has a b2b emphasis.
Culture
We are a ‘collar and tie’ agency (though Fridays are dress-down).
There is a relatively flat structure and teamwork is important. The atmosphere in the office varies from ‘buzzy and busy’ to ‘quiet and intense’ according to circumstances.
Staff turnover is extremely low - several members of staff have been with the company for 15+ years.
There is a significant business stream unrelated to press relations work.
All staff sign binding confidentiality agreements.
Ranges from large companies (such as Michelin, Pfizer, ATS Euromaster, 3M, Iveco etc) to small and medium-sized firms.
Applicants must be prepared to work across the client base and give equal diligence and attention to accounts of all sizes. Some of the smaller clients spend disproportionately large amounts on PR (and are, therefore, ‘big accounts’), particularly where the PR function is related to aspiration and ambition rather than existing critical mass.
We have kept several clients for over 20 years and several more for over a decade. Client turn-over is much lower than industry standards.
The business model
Our strategy is to have a core team of account handlers supported by a large network of freelancers and specialists (ranging from video crews and corporate investigators to designers and writers, and from overseas affiliates to web designers). Some of the freelance people work 100% of their time for the agency. All freelancers, subcontractors, and independent specialists work to Garnett Keeler service delivery standards.
This model allows us to deliver a low cost, high quality consultancy operation to clients. We have a low overhead, meaning that we can offer competitive rates, and clients do not pay (or contribute to the overhead for) services which they do not use.
